    Resume Mass, Funerals, Weddings, and Baptism in Northwoods Catholic           Communities with new guidelines.
Dear Parishioners,
Last Tuesday, all of the Pastors had a meeting with Bishop James Powers and talked about resuming Mass in a responsible way. This weekend, on the Solemnity of Holy Trinity, Northwoods Catholic Communities will gather at St. Anthony for the Saturday, June 6, 2020, 4:30 p.m. Mass and Sunday, June 7, 2020, 9:30 a.m. Mass. If everything goes well, in a week or two we will be having Mass all three parishes of our cluster.
BISHOP JAMES POWERS CONTINUES THE DISPENSATION FROM THE OBLIGATION TO ATTEND SUNDAY MASS.
ANYONE WITH FLU LIKE SYMPTOMS OR A TEMPERATURE OF 100.4 OR MORE, OR ANY CONCERNS PLEASE STAY HOME AND WATCH MASS ONLINE OR ON TV AND MAKE SPIRITUAL COMMUNION.
Public celebrations of Holy Mass, Funerals, Weddings, and Baptisms will resume; however, due to social distancing requirements, there will only be room for a MUCH SMALLER number of people to attend each Liturgy.
When you come into the church building, there will be greeters at each door to give you instructions.
We will be continuing the social distancing, so the pews will be marked; you are allowed to sit only where it is marked. If you are a family who is living together, you may sit together. Still, you can sit only on the pews marked with tapes, and please follow specific directions from the greeters.
We can have only 25% of the capacity of our building, so if there are no more pews, then greeters will direct you to the Padua Center where Mass will be live-streamed. At the time of Holy Communion, the Priest, or one of the Communion ministers will bring Holy Communion.
Everyone is encouraged to wear a mask. Hand sanitizers will be available at the entrance.
The celebrations of each liturgy will require some changes, as well, such as:
·         Fewer ministers (hand-picked ministers)
·         Minimal use of singing (as there will be no missalettes available);
·         Avoiding physical contact (no hand-holding or hand-shaking at the Our Father, the Sign of Peace, etc.);
·         Social distancing while in Communion lines; receiving only the Host at Holy Communion and only in the hand;
·         Avoid mingling before/after gathering in church.
·         There may be an organist and one cantor, no choir for the time being.
·         All responses during the Mass will be spoken.
·         Funeral meals, choir practices, are suspended.
We are in a new learning curve, please be patient with one another, respect others, and help each other in love. We have to be cautious, but nothing to be afraid, as long as we care for the safety of the other.
Thank you for being patient with me in this unknown territory. Let us learn together, and help each other. KEEP PHYSICAL DISTANCING, STAY CLOSER IN PRAYER!

Immaculate Conception Parish
Finance Council Meeting
Meeting Minutes
July 21, 2020, 6:30 pm

Meeting called to order by Bob Kopisch, Finance Council Chair, at 6:30 pm.  In attendance were Fr. Shaji, Bob Kopisch, Phil Wagner, Linda Smart, Paulette Ernst, Sue Bodoh and Nancy Goethlich.

Fr. Shaji opened the meeting with a prayer.

The minutes from 5/28/20 were approved.  Motion by Bodoh/Ernst.

  • Parish Secretary Status.  The council discussed the hiring of a new parish secretary and the change in duties.  The new secretary will continue to do the upkeep of the two buildings but the outside grounds maintenance and the accounting work will be contracted out.  Father is working on hiring contractors to do the work.  Financial procedures and banking access were discussed.  We also discussed the allocations to the three cluster parishes for shared expenses.  The council requested that the IC Corporation look at a more equitable allocation of the shared expenses and report back to the council.  A summary of the actual allocated expenses for the 2019/2020 fiscal year was also requested.  Chair Kopisch will provide this summary.
  • Review of financial statements through 6/30/20.  The parish operating budget only (short form) (copy attached) was reviewed along with a brief variance analysis (copy attached) and the cash balances report.  It was reported that for the 2019/2020 fiscal year there was a net shortfall from budget of $12,140.  We were short $15,245 in revenues and positive in expenditures by $3,105.  The positive in expenditures was due to CARES Act funding coming to the parish from the Payroll Protection Plan (PPP).  The cash balances were discussed.  Two CD’s totaling $150,000 matured since May.  A motion by Bodoh/Smart was approved to invest $100,000 of the cash in a new CD at the highest available rate.  Linda Smart volunteered to obtain what was available.
  • 2020/2021 budget.  This budget has not yet been formally approved by the diocese.  Father is waiting for a letter to that effect.  No problems are expected with the approval.
  • Buildings budget for 2020.  The only activity since the last meeting was a deposit was made for the front sidewalk project in the amount of $3,601.75.  The work will be done in August.  The sanctuary ceiling repair project is on hold due the potential high cost of the project.  The remaining projects are expected to be completed in 2020.
  • Real Estate Listings.  No new activity.  We discussed getting more aggressive in trying to sell the two remaining properties from the John Wagner bequest.  Will discuss at next meeting.

Next meeting date:  Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 6:30 pm.
Father led the closing prayer.
Meeting adjourned at 7:45 pm.
Submitted by Bob Kopisch.
