New to the Community?
Resume Mass, Funerals, Weddings, and Baptism in Northwoods Catholic Communities with new guidelines.
Last Tuesday, all of the Pastors had a meeting with Bishop James Powers and talked about resuming Mass in a responsible way. This weekend, on the Solemnity of Holy Trinity, Northwoods Catholic Communities will gather at St. Anthony for the Saturday, June 6, 2020, 4:30 p.m. Mass and Sunday, June 7, 2020, 9:30 a.m. Mass. If everything goes well, in a week or two we will be having Mass all three parishes of our cluster.
BISHOP JAMES POWERS CONTINUES THE DISPENSATION FROM THE OBLIGATION TO ATTEND SUNDAY MASS.
ANYONE WITH FLU LIKE SYMPTOMS OR A TEMPERATURE OF 100.4 OR MORE, OR ANY CONCERNS PLEASE STAY HOME AND WATCH MASS ONLINE OR ON TV AND MAKE SPIRITUAL COMMUNION.
Public celebrations of Holy Mass, Funerals, Weddings, and Baptisms will resume; however, due to social distancing requirements, there will only be room for a MUCH SMALLER number of people to attend each Liturgy.
When you come into the church building, there will be greeters at each door to give you instructions.
We will be continuing the social distancing, so the pews will be marked; you are allowed to sit only where it is marked. If you are a family who is living together, you may sit together. Still, you can sit only on the pews marked with tapes, and please follow specific directions from the greeters.
We can have only 25% of the capacity of our building, so if there are no more pews, then greeters will direct you to the Padua Center where Mass will be live-streamed. At the time of Holy Communion, the Priest, or one of the Communion ministers will bring Holy Communion.
Everyone is encouraged to wear a mask. Hand sanitizers will be available at the entrance.
The celebrations of each liturgy will require some changes, as well, such as:
· Fewer ministers (hand-picked ministers)
· Minimal use of singing (as there will be no missalettes available);
· Avoiding physical contact (no hand-holding or hand-shaking at the Our Father, the Sign of Peace, etc.);
· Social distancing while in Communion lines; receiving only the Host at Holy Communion and only in the hand;
· Avoid mingling before/after gathering in church.
· There may be an organist and one cantor, no choir for the time being.
· All responses during the Mass will be spoken.
· Funeral meals, choir practices, are suspended.
We are in a new learning curve, please be patient with one another, respect others, and help each other in love. We have to be cautious, but nothing to be afraid, as long as we care for the safety of the other.
Thank you for being patient with me in this unknown territory. Let us learn together, and help each other. KEEP PHYSICAL DISTANCING, STAY CLOSER IN PRAYER!

Blessing on your day!

Finance Council Meeting minutes March 17, 2020
Meeting called to order by Bob Kopisch, Finance Council Chair, at 6:33 pm. In attendance were Fr. Shaji, Bob Kopisch, Phil Wagner, Linda Smart and Paulette Ernst. Absent: Sue Bodoh and Nancy Goethlich.
Fr. Shaji opened the meeting with a prayer.
The minutes from 1/28/20 were approved. Motion by Smart/Ernst.
Review of financial statements through 1/31/20.
The parish operating budget only (short form)(copy attached) was reviewed along with a brief variance analysis (copy attached) and the cash balances report. It was reported that through 7 months (58.3%), we are at 55.4% of our revenue budget and 60.3% of our expenditure budget netting a shortage of $4,680.23. Also, we received a bill for our share of the new furnace at the rectory in Park Falls in the amount of $1,822.50. This will show up on the February financials. All of our cash balances were discussed. One CD has matured. Motion by Ernst/Smart approved to reinvest the cash of $50,000 in a 6 or 12 month CD at the best rate equal to or exceeding 1%. We also decided to take some cash out of our declining investment accounts. Motion approved by Smart/Ernst to take $5,000 out of each account to use as parish cash. With the COVID-19 health emergency, there is some concern over cash available to operate the parish without our usual schedule of masses.
Buildings budget for 2020.
There was nothing spent since the last meeting. However, there are questions regarding the sanctuary ceiling and front sidewalk projects. The buildings committee is re-evaluating these projects. Any change in the projects’ cost or scope will need to be reviewed by the Finance Council.
John Wagner Bequest.
We discussed how this money is to be applied to the maintenance of the church in reference to our building projects. No decision was made. We will discuss again at our next meeting.
Real Estate Listings. No new activity.
2020-2021 budget schedule and process.
A preliminary budget was presented and reviewed. New items included are a 2% wage increase effective 7/1/20, internet access for our education programs and replacing our office printer with a new leased machine (the existing one died). Several accounts were adjusted to reflect our actual spending, both up and down. The DSA expense was adjusted to our expected shortfall from the current year since we are billed in the succeeding year. We do not have numbers as of yet for the pastor’s expenses, charges for the Park Falls rectory or our insurances. We also have not fully funded the requests for new equipment and furnishings (about $1,200). One last item not included is our share of a new roof for the Park Falls rectory. Regarding revenue, we followed this year’s budget except for interest. This was reduced by $2,500 but may be lowered further due to declining interest rates. The net result of all this is a budget of $95,825 which will require the use of $7,000 in cash to balance. This year’s budget cash requirement is $1,000. However, with the uncertainty of interest, the missing information and the roof project, we expect the preliminary budget shortfall to increase. We briefly discussed how we could economize. The final budget is due in May.
Cluster cost allocations.
This was discussed regarding the rationale behind the allocation percentages and the lack of IC parish input on projects at the PF rectory. Father Shaji has agreed to take our issues to the diocese for their consideration. Apparently, the diocese is involved in any of these allocations in the cluster parishes.
Next meeting date: Tuesday, May 12, 2020.
Father led the closing prayer.
Meeting adjourned at 8:02 pm.
Submitted by Bob Kopisch.
